Grandmother Anna married Edward Taylor and in their retirement moved to what I was told as a child was Mr. T's family farm at the bottom of Terrace Mountain. Driving the high dirt single lane road to the farm the Juniata was far below on our left as we went from Aitch to the farm.

This house and river are the happiest of childhood memories. It was sold in 1959 (ish) as Mr. T's health failed and they moved to town. I have photos of the house. Terrace mountain was behind it, the barn had burned down and you walked past the old barn foundation on the way to swim to the river. Holiday cottages were on the otherside. The Juniata was so shallow that kids could walk across it to visit vacationers. I expect it is underwater now. Grandmom said it was to be sold to the Boyscouts as a camp since my father had been an Eagle Scout. Would love to knowif it survived or if I should take up diving in my 70s. Karen

I am always trying to find out more about mt GGGGGrandfather, George Reynolds. He died in Huntingdon in 1788 or so. I have history on him but I would like to know where he came from. I think Scotland. He came over with Braddock and fought and was wounded with Braddock. Given land in Woodcock Valley and lived in Huntingdon when he died of a heart attach one morni ng in apparently a neighbors yard. He had three children with first wife and 8 with Margaretta, his second. Anything on him would be so appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you. Great documentation of old Shultz Cemetery. My husband and I have been there but it was so over run with poison ivy that we did not actually go into it. Just took pictures from a distance. Shultz is in my ancestry through Mary Shultz, d/o Henry. She married David Hoover, s/o Christian. All from Huntingdon Co, PA. David and Mary moved on to Indiana.

Hi my name is Ben Johnson. I'm interested in Woodcock Valley because I recently learned that my mom's side of the family ,surname Lang, was from McConnelstown. Patrick and Washington Lang are the oldest of the relatives but I don't have anyone else before Patrick and would love to learn more about the Lang's of this area.

I have been able to find information about 3 legs of my family... Stapleton, Johnson and Hetrick.

I have a box of photos from the Charles Ulyses Johnson that I was not able to trace to any of my family, my father and grandmother were unable to help. I am curious if there was a forum for me to scan and post to help other area family discover more about their families, in case they are in here. There may be some "White" family photos in there.

I came to visit Huntingdon County looking for Brumbaugh history. After much searching I did find some cemeteries, the best of which is of course the "valley view" cemetery on Weller Road. The Army Corps seems to be doing a good job of maintaining the cemetery. Too bad the house is in such disrepair. My great grandmother was a Brumbaugh of Darke County Ohio. I read something in the Brethren Gospel Messenger about the Brumbaughs of Woodcock Valley and thought I would check it out.

Hello! I just found out this evening that I am descended from Isaac Swope and Jane Edwards (GGG grandparents) What a break through I had thanks to your site and an obit I found on their daughter Ellen T. Swope, who married Abner Sheeder.

I have only been doing genealogy for about a year, and was stumped on Ellen

because other sources gave her maiden name as Edwards. Now at least I found

her parents and her correct maiden name. Info on her obit, dated

9/28/1916 from the Tyrone Daily Herald lists her death as 9/22/1916. She was born

in Shirleysburg in 1838 and lived in Broad Top since1855 until the time of her

death. She had 14 children, 9 were surviving at the time of her death, including my

great grandfather, William Sheeder. Also surviving was her brother William Swope.

I posted all my new info on my tree at Geni.com

Glad I found this site. My mom comes from the McCarthy-Rutter-

Dolan-O'Rourke clans in Robertsdale/Broad Top area. My dad is from the Sheeder-Kline-Gates-Graffious sides from Hopewell/Six Mile Run,etc.

Once again, thanks for a great site!

Hi Dale, I do have Isaac and Martha in my records, as one of their daughters married Andrew Jackson Norris. However, like you, I can not tie Rebecca to the family with certainty. I do not have a last name for Martha. I'm afraid I'm no help! This is a line that I've not spent much time on.

Hi Deb, I found your email a year and a half ago on some cemetery transcriptions for Hunt. Co, Pa and communicated with you then on trying to discover a connection between Cyrus Swoope and James Cunningham/Anna Mary Blatt/Matilda Ealy. Just found your new site and I find it very exciting! Am hoping to find some long lost relatives with pictures and info. to share on the Cunninghams. My brick wall is trying to find out who the parents of Gustaves Cunningham (my GG grandfather) were. He was married to Esther Beaver.

William Robb and Mary Livingston Robb lived on a farm on Stone Creek until 1826 then moved to the Robb homestead in Walker township. They are buried in Huntingdon Cementary. William Robb's mother is Sara McFarlane Robb. Father's name unknown. Mary's father was Duncan Livingston and Mother was Janett Wiley Livingston William Robb came to the US in 1799 and first settled in Big Valley. Hope this info helps. Ellen Robb's dau Margaret (Don't know for sure if thats her correct name or not) married a John McConnell of Phila. Thanks, Jim

Thanks, Jim. Who was Ellen's brother William married to? I have a number of William Robb's and want to make sure I'm connecting her to the right one. I looked in Africa's History, and Alexander McConnell was a large landowner in Walker Township, where McConnellstown is located. The town eventually took it's name from him. He did have a son named John who lived and died in McConnellstown.

3:04 PM on September 1, 2010

Hi Deb, You are correct Elizabeth Sarah Robb was married to Andrew Strong. Info on her parents is that her mother was Ellen Robb sister of William Robb who settled in the area of McConnellstown. Don't know who her father was. Ellen had two other children named Mrs. Grey and a Mrs. John McConnell. Could it be that McConnellstown is named after him?? I have a copy of geneology put together on the Robb family by Lewis Robb dated June 21, 1924 regarding the William Robb family.
