About Me

I  retired from Hillsborough Co., Tampa, Fl Schools as an Assistant Kindergarten Teacher in 2009.   After 24 years with little 5 and 6 year olds,  it's time to move on!

I am married to John Corio  (47 yrs) ,  with two grown children - Angela 41 yrs old and Vincent 33 years old.  We have one grandaughter and another one due in August 2013 and   two step grandchildren.  They keep us very busy!

My hobbies are Genealogy and Jewelry making  -  Wire Art Sculpturing, . I have done several craft shows in the Tampa area at local church Boutiques.

I've also completed many binder books of family info and placed at Genealogical Society in Blair County, Pa.

John and  I also do a lot of walking and traveling  since we are both retired.

My "brickwall"  is Henry HUGHS/HUGHES b. c. 1800 in Ireland who married Martha Jane (unknown).  Henry could be a middle name that he went by - possible first name - James or John!    Martha may have a maiden name of "Davis" - my GGGrandfather was John Davis Hughs/Hughes b. 1825 in Centre Co., Pa.  He also lived in Huntingdon, Pa before finally settling in Altoona.

My Huntingdon Co. names:  Hughes,  Hicks, Jackson, Westbrook, Simpson, Dougherty

About Me

I was born and live on the west coast of Scotland, started my family research around 2009 and with a bit of help was very successful.  I discovered via Debbie's hard work with this site that some of my Kiltie ancestors from Scotland had settled in Huntingdon and Margaret Kiltie had married John E Hoover of  McConnelstown.  Margaret B Hoover passed away in 1960 and had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Braddock.

I would really like to know more about their lives, for instance the fact that they operated a fish market in Huntingdon, there has to be many stories regarding this, and above all a photo of the family, but  I think this may be too much to expect or hope for.

My thanks to Debbie, without her posts I would never have known where in the U.S.A. my ancestors had settled.

Best Regards

Celtie

About Me

I am retired from teaching and working in media centers.  I am searching for pictures and information about ancestors in order to inform and pass along our heritage to my grandchildren and daughter.    TOpics of interest are:   the Brumbach, Brumbaugh, Broombaugh family descended from Jacob 'Yockel" son of Johannes Heinrich Brumbaugh, my 7th great grandfather 1750s in America

as well as any  information  aprox same era about Christian Wingard , Wenger  from Switzerland, Samuel James, James and Joshua Rutlidge Pheasant from England and Harmon, or Mary Dick the former from Scotland.  Anna Hostettler and family from Switzerland who was killed in the Indian massacre and information about REvolutionary War participation that would possibly also include Daniel Diamond (of Ireland) and son Michael...and Mary and Margaret Skelley (Scully) whose brothers and father were massacred or enslaved Morrisons (Great)  Cove area.....PLease:)  Thank you

About Me

I have spent the last ten years researching my ancestor John David Fisher. He married Margaret Weaver and moved from Huntindon, Pa in 1854 to Illinois. He purchased 40 acres of land in 1850 for $1.25 an acre. The land grant is signed by Willard Fillmore President of the United States. My quest to prove whom where his parents. There are so mamy Henry Fishers and  just need to sort out the correct one.

I carry on the Fisher trait of height, being the shortest of four brothers at six foot three inches. My dad was six foot five inches tall. Thanks to Deb Fisher Riley for pointing out this web site.

Update: I spent part of a day at the Land Office in Dixon, Illinois. I was able to get a copy of the Land Grant of Henry Fisher and his wife. i later went to the land he had bought and talked with the present owner. He thought his family were somehow related. But he never checked into to history. He said his family were from the same area in PA. That his family had bought Land Grant Land in 1841. Another trip back to the Land Office proved to be correct. William Fisher bought Land Grant in China Township now known as Franklin Grove. I was able to get a copy of this Deed.

This now has open up a whole lot of more questions! Somehow My Henry Fisher and William Fisher are related. Maybe someone in Huntingdon PA kowns this William Fisher.

I am planning another trip to Dixon, Il  Courthouse for more records on this Fisher side.

I am trying to prove Henry Fisher real father.
