About Me

My name is Ruby Shirk Keller.  I grew up on the ridge between Hesston and Raystown.  My mother's maiden name was Shingler.  Her parents were Mary Ellen (Nellie) Magill Shingler and Robert Shingler.  She has lived on the farm since 1919.  She will be 94 in September.  I have 2 brothers...Robert and Raymond, and a sister Helen.  Most of my ancestors on my mothers side are buried in the Anderson, White Church and Old Stone Church cemeteries.

About Me

I'm older than dirt. Was born in Tyrone, Blair Co., PA. My family, for many generations, came from Central PA. We moved to Meadville, Crawford Co., PA, when I was a baby as the Viscose had opened a plant here, and it was depression days. I have 4 grown daughters, 6 grown grandchildren, and I'm deeply into genealogy.

Surnames I have from Woodcock Valley are Barrick, Boyer,Clapper, Grove, Hahn, many in other parts of Huntingdon, Blair, Clearfield counties.

About Me

I have been passonate about American history since a young age. When my daughter finished high school, I went back and received my BA in History/Physical Antropology, specializing in history of the American West. While in college I did many house histories for extra income and realized that I loved geneaology too.

My husband knew nothing about his family on his mother's side. When I started to search back in his family, I found an ancestor connected to the Fisher's in Pennsylvnia. I am glad I have found this site and hope to add to the history Debbie has done here. I am also willing to help anyone who have had family move to the Rocky Mountian region as well.
