About Me

I have been doing family research for almost 20 years.  It started out as just a little bit of curiousity as to who I was and where did I really come from.  From this I have went back  to college and minored in history.  I love it and who ever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks was wrong.

:)

I am a Fulton/ Brown descendent originating in Broad Top, Pa. I've been struggling to put the pieces together for almost 20 years on that line. That line was a taboo conversation and quite a mystery. Earliest I can trace is about 1850 and most of that is conjecture. Am looking for any help I can get. 3xgf Alexander (Alex) Fulton 1825 Civil War Registration.

I am a historian of sorts. junior historian... I don't know. What I do know is that I have a deep love for discovery and for histoy. especially family history. on my dads side I have one royal governor, Roger Wolcott, one signer of the declaration of independence, oliver Wolcott, and one secretary of the treasury oliver Wolcott jr. not bragging, really. just knowing this has led me to discover more about my own past and my families. to me, knowing where I come from helps me feel connected to who I am.

Love old pictures. I was given a link for the woodcockvalley site that had a picture of the old Weaver homestead, saying that it had belonged to Henry and Rachel (Bryan) Weaver. One of Henry's brothers, Christian was my great, great, great grandfather. Hoping to someday find more info on their parents Jacob and Susan. Also on my great great grandparents John A. and Hannah Weaver.

One day I came across your posting of the Johnston family album.  I couldn't believe my luck.  I am not a Johnston but I was trying to find photos of my Shollar line and there were no shortage of them there.  There were several wonderful pictures of my three greats Uncle Fred Shollar and his wife Lydia (Johnston) as well as their children Marjorie and Gerald.  Also the photo of Fred's mother, Isabel Cooper Shollar who lived in Williamsburg, Pa and was the wife of Capt James Stewart Shollar who served in the civil war. Another bit of luck is that I had been in touch with Marjorie Shollar's granddaughter and was able to tell her of all the wonderful Shollar and Johnston photos at the Histrory of Woodcock Valley.

A family member sent me the link to your site. My husband's family goes back to the mid 1700s in Pennsylvania. Many of them lived in the Woodcock Valley area. I am interested in finding any old photos, obituaries, etc. that would help give more detail to their lives.
