About Me

I am very interested in learning more about Huntingdon County, especially information on the Zentmyer families that lived in Huntingdon Furnace and Neffs Mills.  My greatgrandmother, Isabella Zentmyer, lost two brothers in the Battle of Fredericksburg before she married  David Kinch and eventually moved to Altoona.  David Kinch's Father was a blacksmith at Huntingdon Furnace.    David was also a blacksmith for the PRR in Altoona and he was the 2nd Mayor of Altoona in 1872.    Two years ago I published a book on my wife's family - The Peck Family.  This covers from after the War of 1812 up into current relatives from Perry and Juniata County, in towns like, Blain, Honey Grove, Farmers Grove & Port Royal.  Her greatgrandfather relocated to Coalport and her grandfather lived in South Fork, Cambria County.   A copy of this book is in the Pennsylvania Room of the Altoona Public Library.    I also have done a small publication on the history of Richard Nagle, my GGGG Grandfather who was in the Revolutionary War and is buried in a small cemetery on Klondike Road between Patton and Chest Springs.   I have also published four other books about growing up in Altoona, the history of baseball in Altoona, the history of bowling in Altoona and the history of the Cresson Lake Playhouse from 1974 to 2004.  All these publications can be found in the Pennsylvania Room, at the Altoona Public Library.

About Me

I am married to James Milton Garner, who was born in Aitch, and whose family lived in the Huntingdon County area since the 1700's.  I have an extensive website with loads of information on some of the same surnames as are on this site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cgarner/.  I'm always looking for more information.
