I came to visit Huntingdon County looking for Brumbaugh history. After much searching I did find some cemeteries, the best of which is of course the "valley view" cemetery on Weller Road. The Army Corps seems to be doing a good job of maintaining the cemetery. Too bad the house is in such disrepair. My great grandmother was a Brumbaugh of Darke County Ohio. I read something in the Brethren Gospel Messenger about the Brumbaughs of Woodcock Valley and thought I would check it out.

Hi Sharron. I have a civil war letter that has been passed down in our family. It was written by a soldier to his father and the signature appears to be Cyrus G. Swoope. I have been trying to establish some connection to my family but am stumped. Are you aware of any connection to your family ?

Frank Showalter suggested that I take a look and I am so glad I did. Your site is fantastic! I can't wait till I have more time to check things out more thoroughly.

Hi folks,

Just uploaded a pic of a linen doily that I found in an old book that was owned by my great grandfather Pvt James Strong, Co
C, 53rd Regmt. Pa Vol Inf. I gave it to my cousin John R Houser whose great grandfather was J F N Householder. It appears to be a doily used at the 50th Wedding Anniv of Mr Householder in May 1909.

Hello! I just found out this evening that I am descended from Isaac Swope and Jane Edwards (GGG grandparents) What a break through I had thanks to your site and an obit I found on their daughter Ellen T. Swope, who married Abner Sheeder.
I have only been doing genealogy for about a year, and was stumped on Ellen
because other sources gave her maiden name as Edwards. Now at least I found
her parents and her correct maiden name. Info on her obit, dated
9/28/1916 from the Tyrone Daily Herald lists her death as 9/22/1916. She was born
in Shirleysburg in 1838 and lived in Broad Top since1855 until the time of her
death. She had 14 children, 9 were surviving at the time of her death, including my
great grandfather, William Sheeder. Also surviving was her brother William Swope.

I posted all my new info on my tree at Geni.com

Glad I found this site. My mom comes from the McCarthy-Rutter-
Dolan-O'Rourke clans in Robertsdale/Broad Top area. My dad is from the Sheeder-Kline-Gates-Graffious sides from Hopewell/Six Mile Run,etc.
Once again, thanks for a great site!
