While doing some research today on Matthew G. Isett (1838-1863), who was killed at Gettysburg, I discovered that there was a GAR post named after him in Marklesburg, Huntingdon Co., PA in his hometown. The post was number 635 and was called the Matthew G. Isett post. I was wondering if anyone knows more about this GAR post. How long was it operational? Where were meetings held? Are there any artifacts still existing from this post? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

 

Through more internet searches, I was able to find out that the following people were involved from 1904-1905:

 Jacob Auman, P. C.

George C. Bair

A. B. Garner, S. V. C.

 

In 1905-1906:

Jacob Auman, P. C.

George I. Wallace

Samuel Hetrick

 

In 1909-1910:

A. H. Crum, P. C. (Allison H. Crum)

A. B. Garner, Representative

G. T. Wallace, Alternate
