Last Saturday, Lyle Ward and Deb Garner found my father-in-law, who is the caretaker, in the Union Cemetery in Marklesburg. Lyle and Deb are researching the Garner family. Being the wonderful father-in-law he is, he got a name and e-mail address so I could contact them. We have been in contact over the course of this week. They are researching Henry M. Garner (1863-1950) and his son, Guy Fetzer Garner (1896-1952). My great-aunt Ora, was also one of Henry M. Garner's children. Ora (1901-1989) was married to my great-uncle, Blair Fisher. I knew who Aunt Ora's parents were, but had never explored how her father tied to all of the Garner's in the Woodcock Valley. So, I spent some time today and figured out that Henry M. Garner was a son of Matthew (1831-1879) and Rebecca (1835-1890) Garner. I still haven't found Rebecca's maiden name yet. Anyone else connect to this Garner line? I now have more info if you do, but of course, I still have things to learn too! Lyle is now a member of the site also.
I was also working on some of the CCC items today that I want to add to the website, and in one of the old newspaper articles from 1933, I found an obituary for Mrs. Annie Garner of Oneida Township. She was married to James Garner. Her parents were James and Catherine Garner. Before marrying James Garner, she was married to James Kyper. Are you confused yet by all of the James'? I do not have any information on either her Garner parents or Garner husband. Does anyone know more?
