We have had such a mild winter and spring so far here in Central, PA. My family and I have been out and about shopping for swing sets for my young son. We took a cross-country trip yesterday to finish our swing set browsing. We visited a spot between Martinsburg and Roaring Spring in Blair County, and then backtracked down Clover Creek Road. I had my husband stop at the Brumbaugh Cemetery on Clover Creek Road in North Woodbury Township, Blair County, Pennsylvania, so I could photograph the tomb stones of some of his Riley ancestors. I found many familiar names there associated with various family lines including Riley, Holsinger, Dilling, Isett, Carbaugh, and Huntsman. I took many photographs, but didn't even touch all of the Brumbaugh names buried there!
I have added a page with the tomb stones I transcribed in the Brumbaugh Cemetery. You can view them by clicking on the link. I do have photographs available for all of the stones I transcribed. Due to space limitations, I am not going to post the photos on-line. However, if you are interested in any of the photos, please contact me using the "Contact Me" button to the left, and I will e-mail the photos that you request. I only have photos for the tomb stones that I transcribed. This is a partial cemetery listing.
It was my sons first outing to a cemetery to photograph tombstones. It was a beautiful day and he had a lot of fun. My budding genealogist enjoyed launching himself against the tomb stones every time I went to take a photo. It was a good thing my husband was along to pick him up and move him! I have many photos that look like this!
However, we all have to start somewhere, and it could have been worse...we could have been chasing him trying to keep him in the cemetery! He better get used to it, because there are still a lot more cemeteries that I want to visit!
