On Friday, July 29, Betsy (Garner) Carpenter spent the evening with my family. She came with all of her photographs in tow, and we had a scanning party! Betsy was in town for the Garner Family Reunion, which was held on Sunday, July 31, 2011. Betsy and I first met in 2000, when we discovered that her great-grandparents, Thomas Lucas Norris and Rachel Anzoetta (Krieger) Norris had lived in the same house where my father and his siblings grew up.
The farm was ultimately purchased from my grandmother by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. Here is an aerial view of the farm in later years.
Betsy and I are cousins through the Norris family. Her great-grandfather, Thomas Lucas Norris (1845-1923), and my great, great-grandfather, Samuel Wilson Norris (1840-1919), were brothers.
Betsy shared photos with me that belonged to her Weaver, Krieger, Norris, and Garner family lines. She also shared several obituaries. All of her photos are now added to the site. Thank you, Betsy, for sharing your family treasures!
