In correspondence with Rosemary Crownover over the last several days, she told me that the https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list" target="_blank">Family Search website now has more census records. They used to have just the 1880 census records that you could access for free viewing. Now, they have added the years 1850-1930. In some cases, you can view the actual images. This is exciting news for anyone who does not pay for an Ancestry.com subscription. Family Search has done some major upgrades and has a new format since the last time I visited. So, if you were used to the old format, you can still access that, but take a moment and look around the upgraded site as well.
In other news, the Woodcock Valley is bracing for a major ice storm tonight and into tomorrow. We got a touch last night and early this morning, but the worst is yet to come according to the weather forecasters. So, if we lose power, I'll catch up when all is restored!
